January 3, 2012—North Shore Trust and Savings announced today that it

Linda Moran, Assistant Vice President/Lending,
North Shore Trust and Savings, said ”Qualified first-time home
buyers aspiring to purchase a home, but lacking the sufficient funds
to pay the down payment and closing costs, can apply for a $10,000
forgivable grant toward a down payment and then apply for a fixed rate
mortgage with an annual percentage rate of 4.254 % APR based on a
$150,000 VA mortgage loan.“
Qualified military families needing down
payment and closing cost assistance can apply for home financing at
North Shore Trust and Savings and meet the institution’s loan
underwriting criteria. The program only applies to 1-2 unit
residential properties located in the State of Illinois and purchased
as the primary residence. The new loan builds on the existing
affordable home loan SMARTMOVE® also available through North Shore
Trust and Savings.
North Shore Trust and Savings will apply for
the grants on behalf of the borrowers. Borrowers may not apply for the
grants directly. Borrowers must also receive home ownership education
to help ensure that they understand the home buying process as well as
the financial responsibilities of home ownership.
Linda Moran said, “This program will help
many military families throughout Lake County and surrounding
communities overcome one of the major obstacles to realizing the dream
of home ownership-the inability to afford the down payment and
associated closing costs.”
“We are delighted to be able to participate
in this program and look forward to expanding the home ownership
opportunities to the military families in our area. For more detailed
information please call us at 847.599.7440”, she added.
