In Memory of Nathan Walker
Nathan Walker’s journey with North Shore Trust and Savings began the week he was born, when his grandmother opened his first savings account at the bank. He truly grew up at NSTS, starting his career in 1996 as a part-time teller and going on to serve in roles across every department. Through hard work, humility, and a deep love for the bank, he rose to become our President and CEO.
While Nathan always valued connecting directly with customers, he often shared that his role as CEO shifted his focus to supporting the team around him. He led with courage, kindness, and authenticity. He knew our employees by name, celebrated our successes, and stood beside us during challenges. He believed in community banking, in doing the right thing, and in putting people first. His leadership was not just seen, it was felt every day.

His commitment to the community ran deep. A lifelong connection to Waukegan, where he grew up, shaped his belief in giving back, both through the North Shore Trust and Savings Charitable Foundation and through his personal involvement, including volunteering with the Youth Conservation Corps and serving on the Board of Siena Catholic Schools of Racine.
Outside of work, Nathan found joy in time spent with his wife, their two children, and their family dog. Whether hiking or exploring the outdoors, his love for family and nature was evident in all he did.
We are devastated by this loss on April 4, 2026, but incredibly proud and grateful to have had Nathan at our helm. His passion for this bank, his steady guidance, and his genuine care for others leave a lasting legacy that will continue to shape who we are.
Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with Nathan’s family, friends, and everyone whose lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and always remembered.
